I’m thinking of learning to make filters, and I’m wondering what s/w people like to use. Any recommendations?
If you wish to code in C, you can use the CodeWarrior development system to build plugins for Mac or Windows. (CW is available for several platforms:
http://www.metrowerks.com/MW/Products/CodeWarrior+Technology .htm)
If you’re looking for a freely downloadable development system, you can also use the Macintosh Programmer’s Workshop to build Mac only plugins (
http://developer.apple.com/tools/mpw-tools/). To build Windows plugins, you can use the free Borland tools
(
http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_cbuilder. html), or mingw32 (
http://www.mingw.org/) to cross-compile from Linux to Windows.
You will need to apply for the Photoshop SDK, see
