Are you talking about getting a black and white image, and magically reading information about colour channels that simply does not exist?

Only if you use the B&W IR image (shot through an IR pass filter) as a channel and combine it with two (green an red) channels of a "normal" shot of the same scene. Green turns blue, red turns green, and IR turns red.

Here is a good place for an expert in channels to speak up. That is not me! Not yet.

Until we get a channels pro to respond, you can explore several ways to create artificial (arbitrary) colors by coloring various ranges of tones. (Select -> Color Rage works on grey tones). However, I don’t know if you can achieve the _same_ colors that would have been rendered with real color IR film (if that’s what you want.)

One way to get fast results and learn some intresting things is to use Duotone mode (misnomer since you can have four colors; quadtone.) So try it out: Image – Mode – Duotone and use the Load feature to experiment with some ready-made complex combinations of colors and curves.

I guess so. Can this be done manually ? I saw some where that it can. Thanks.

Thank you that is a good suggestion. It looks like ( if using infrared film through a infrared filter , which I have ) this is very possible. I have found out that 120mm film in infrared is not available inspire of the Pentax manuals mentioning how to use color infrared film with this camera. My camera is a Pentax 67 II.

B&W 120mm infra red film is available. Maco makes the best (imho), and a lesser-sensitive ir 120 is made by Konica. Here’s a recent photo taken with the Maco IR. http://wind.winona.edu/~stafford/alma (Sorry for the dark image. I’ll try to post one with the proper monitor gamma setting.)

Or were you refering to _color_ IR?

If your infrared B&W image is an 8-bit greyscale image, you can turn it into an 8-bit paletted image and set each color in the palette as you like it.
