Well I already did and haven’t found any problems. I just cant understand why the option to install or no install this is given?

I’m doing my best to learn PSCS and don’t even want to waste time. Is
there
something image ready has I’m missing out on?

Cheers,

For most pre-press people, I guess, the answer is no. You miss lots of useful features if you’re into WWW. In IR7, I’ve done some work for my friend’s web-page, but as far as pre-press work, there’s been no real reason to keep ImageReady. Usually, the "Save For Web" does the trick for general use, if I only want low-res, small files in JPEG or PNG-8 format (also GIF and PNG-24, which supports alpha transparency)…

Rename the file ImageReady_Old.exe

This way if you do want to use it later, remove the "_Old" from the file name.

I use ImageReady quite a bit to produce special effects animations (based on photographs), for the web. ‘For the web’ are important words here because
I.R. is only set up to produce short animations. It gets really bogged
down if you try to do larger format or longer animations. For that you should use a true non-linear editing product like Adobe Premier. Also, the words ‘based on photographs’ are important too, because if you’re into some kind of hand-drawn animation there are also other products out there that are better suited than I.R. for generating animations.

But if you have an image sequence that isn’t too long and the images aren’t too large, I.R. is a handy tool for combining elements from various layers to get animation frames, and output the results as QuickTime movies.

Here are a few examples:

And if you’re doing very short animations, you’re far better off using Flash which is more pervasive on the Web than QT.

And if you need to do scene by scene animations the best method is actually to use PS/Fireowkrs/Flash or just Fireworks and Flash.
