Hi,

Like many of us, I design webpage comps in Photoshop. A common operation when I’m creating a design mockup is to make a selection of text appear as a hyperlink. This means changing the text typically from black to blue with an underline. As I do this often I would like to set this as a style, or at least a recordable action. The idea is that I would select a word in a text layer, and then apply the style or run the action. Well neither works. What I discovered is that its impossible to set text underline as a "style" and I can’t record the action of making a text affect apply to selected text items. The action appears to only be able to be applied to an entire text layer. Anyone know of a work-around for this, short of what I am doing now – selecting individual words and manually applying these effects. Thanks.

You can make an action of that part. If the text already exists, record the following: select the text, change it (using character) to an underline and the word(s) to blue color. Otherwise, you can make an action to create a dummy word, in blue, underlined and then click on it to change the text.
