Slow Start-Up Photoshop CS

Hi all,

Is it normal that Photoshop CS takes over 3 minutes to start on a P4 – 2,53 MHz with 1024 MB Ram.

It takes more than 2 minutes to go past the plug-in scanning, and i have only the AutoFX filters installed.

I still have Photoshop 7 in another directory with lots of plug-ins installed there. Could this contribute to the delay ?

And that’s probably why it takes so long.

Load time is 5 seconds without any additional plug ins on my system. 3.2GHz HT with 120 gig 7200RPM drive 8 meg cache.

AutoFX plug-ins/filters have been reported to be slow in installing – you might consider a plug-in manager, and load them only when you intend to use them.

The PS7 plug-ins wouldn’t affect CS unless you’ve set your preferences in CS to point to the PS7 plug-ins as well, in which case CS would load them.
