I recently got a new screen, an LG Flatron L1715S for christmas. When starting Photoshop CS, I got a warning message which I cannot remember in context, but it referred to the screen color profile not being set for Photoshop, or something along those lines. I got the opportunity to ignore the warning or use it anyway, so I just clicked use it anyway and selected that the warning should not be displayed again.

Anyway, I’ve noticed that all my images become slightly more red in Photoshop when opening them up. I can draw just like normally, but when checking the image in the save to web preview, the colors have reverted back from the red tone to the normal colors. That is, "white" actually looks white instead of bright red.

Also, I tried to take a print screen of my canvas filled with white, paste it into a new image, take a screenshot of that pasted image, paste it into another and repeat the process for a few times. The result was that the original canvas shown after 5-6 times of copying and pasting the whole screen, was extremely red-toned. In other words, Photoshop does add a red tone to my images for some reason, it’s not just some display error.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Nevermind, I found the solution. All I had to do was to run the Adobe Gamma guide in my control panel.

Oh, just a small thing I really like about Photoshop CS. Being an user with a relatively low amount of RAM (256 mb), I have to say the brush tracking is a HUGE improvement from PS7. In Photoshop 7, the brush tracking was a lot more memory-dependent. That is, drawing a curve really fast would make it rather jagged and edgy. A circle drawn in a quarter of a second using either a mouse of a tablet could result in a mantis cylinder with 8 sides or so. In Photoshop CS, the brush strokes are drawn slightly slower, but are extremely smooth and round. This is probably the main reason why I absolutely love the program. I can see why it wouldn’t feel nice if the brush strokes are still slower even if you do have a lot of memory and wouldn’t notice much difference in the curvature anyway, but for those of us who still don’t have a lot of RAM, it’s amazingly nice.

Chris,

drawing a curve really fast would make it rather jagged and edgy.

In PS 7 you should have switched "Smoothing" in the brush palette on to smooth that out.
