Hi!

I’ve searched the FAQ’s and this topic, but without any luck. If I’ve missed something, I apologize. But I’m a software developer looking for documentation on how to develop plug-ins for Photoshop under Windows. Does anyone know of any such documentation that can be downloaded from the Adobe website, or from one of the forums? Or does anyone know of any books that deal with this subject? All the Photoshop books I’ve seen are aimed at users rather than developers.

Thanks,
David.

you want the sdk. it came for free on the ps 6 disk, but now you must be a napp (sp?) member to get it. search adobe.com for photoshop sdk.

Actually, NAPP has NOTHING to do with getting the SDK. You must be a member of the Adobe Solutions Network (ASN):

Thanks. I just took a look at the ASN page, and it costs $195 to join. Even Microsoft isn’t that anal, they distribute their SDK’s for free.

That might explain why there’s so much crap software around. Any dope can pony up the price of admission.

Well, if you think having a lot of money to spend automatically makes someone a good software developer, I have some property in Florida you might be interested in. But in fact, I only want to develop some plug-ins for my own use. If it’s going to cost money, I’ll continue to use open source or freeware tools, such as Java or Python. Of course, by your criteria, open source software would be "crap" because it’s free. However, I don’t share your opinion, so I’ll continue to use whatever tools are available.
