I would like to save a selection on one image and load it onto another one (so I can crop two different images to the same proportions). I have been able to do this with some images, but for some reason, I’m not able to in others. I save the selection and name it. Then I go to the new image but "load selection" is not highlighted, or the named selection is not there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Try this:

Look at the info numbers for the pixel dimensions of the selection you want.

Select the rectangular selection tool.

Change the defaults to fixed size and enter your dimensions.

Now whenever you click on an image you will get a selection rectangle that is the exact size and you can position it where you want.

Select Image>Crop to crop the image to the exact size.

You can share alpha channels between images if the images are the same pixel dimensions, check and see if that’s your problem. Files with the exact same pixel size containing alpha channels should show up in the ‘document’ drop down box when you do ‘Select > Load Selection’.

There may be some other restrictions, like same mode, but probably this will get you started. I know you can share between 8 and 16 bit mode files though.

Hi,

You’re probably trying to mess between a CMJN and a RVB color mode. For selections, best is to put it into a channel, copy the channel and paste it in you new image.

Regards.
