Dino,

Welcome and congrats on getting a new machine. First thing you might want to do is a Google.Groups search of this, and the other main PS group, alt. graphics.photoshop, as much discussion on what you want has already, and recently, taken place.

Next, large, fast multiple physical drives are a big plus for PS work. Then comes as much RAM as you can fit on the MB. Fast processors are good, but are down on the list. Hypter-threading doesn’t *seem* to help with pure PS work, though multiple processors does. Last, video cards are not THAT big a deal with PS, as any good 2D card will work. Greatest concern is for adequate rez of multiple monitors (here, bigger in the monitor category is better) is of the most importance. Really last – get a tablet for PS work, i.e. Wacom, or similar.

Good luck,
Hunt
