I was recently retouching some pictures that had a fur trimmed dress that needed some ‘healing’. I used the Healing tool and alt clicked on the portion that I wanted to duplicate. I then went into the brush section and changed the roundness and angle of the brush. I did this by rotating the angle clockwise so I would get the spiraling effect that the fur trimmed dress had. I cannot return to my normal brush setting. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I have even deleted and reinstalled the software. Any suggestions? It is version 7.0, by the way.

Have you tried resetting your preferences? Re-installing won’t do that.

While starting up PS, hold down Control+Alt+Shift keys. When it asks if you want to reset them (not the exact words), choose yes.

Yes, as I said, I’ve tried all the obvious solutions. Nothing has worked.

Actually, you said you tried "everything". A lot of people say that and it turns out they haven’t. I was just making a suggestion.

Oh if only common sense were more common…

Thanks graffiti for solving MY problem with brushes. I didn’t do a complete reinstall but never even thought that preferences would go that far.

Lea Clor, I’ve found that deleting and reinstalling doesn’t always get rid of everything. After you’ve deleted poke around your hard drive for remnants and delete those as well. If you are adventurous make sure that you clean out the registry as well. Other than that I’m lost. Once I get to that point I just format my hard drive and start from scratch.

uninstall only removes what was originally installed. prefrences are not installed, but rather created on the first application launch. so when you uninstall it leaves them behind.

Sorry, Graffiti…just a little frustrated. After I posted my first message, I actually fixed the problem. Problem #2: Don’t know what I did to fix it in the first place and now it’s reoccuring. So, I’m doubly frustrated. I figured out I leave my prefs behind so I’m just going to play around again and hope I get lucky! Any more suggestions, please post! Thanks!
