I got a couple of .pat files, each containing several patterns (in different sizes). What option do I have to extract each pattern into a separate file (jpg, gif, whatever)?

I want them separated so that I can manage them with my image database (ThumbsPlus).

Photoshop 6

MacBook Pro 16” Mockups 🔥

– in 4 materials (clay versions included)

– 12 scenes

– 48 MacBook Pro 16″ mockups

– 6000 x 4500 px

Sven,

Open the Presets manager (Edit|Presets Manager). Click on patterns from the dropdown, then select a single pattern. Then Save that pattern with a new name, in whatever location you want.

Peace,
Tony

Tony,

in the presets manager, I only find the button SAVE SET… Even if I select only a single pattern, this buttons allows only to save as a .pat file. Do I miss something?

Thanx anyway

If you select only a single pattern, it will be saved as a set, containing one pattern. That said, now I understand, you would like to browse your patterns outside of photoshop.

If you have your palette options (triangle when viewing patterns) set to thumbnails, as you hover over each pattern it will tell you the patterns size. You could then create a new image of that particular size, then Edit|Fill… and use the pattern to fill, then save for web or whatever format you like.

The only reason I say it like that is because I have patterns that vary widely in size, so if you hover over each one, you’ll see what the size is, and can reproduce it without tiling.

Peace,
Tony

With my version of PS, I’m told the patterns name (not its size) as I roll over them, regardless of the display option (thumbnails with / without text, large list …).

The only way to determine the patterns size I found so far was to fill a canvas, duplicate the layer, set the blend mode to difference and nudge the upper layer until the image turns completely black.

I hoped to find another option, but it looks like there is no easy way …

Ouch. That’s right. In version 6.01, it didn’t give sizes. I can’t think of a solution other than what you’ve already discovered. Sorry.

Peace,
Tony
