Well, I’ve had a lot of demand for a Photoshop CS Keyboard Shortcuts Cheatsheet, so here it is:

Note that there are a few new keyboard shortcuts in PSCS, so this table is even more cramped than it was before. It is best suited for printing on a double-sided 11×17 and then laminating it. Makes a great reference.

Note that the keys in bold are custom assignments that I’ve created via the new Keyboard Shortcuts editor: however, all other keys are defaults. That is, all of the keys on this chart are compatible with the default install, but you simply will not have the ones denoted in bold. If desired, I can also post my Keyboard Shortcuts preferences. Please review the custom assignments and let me know if you think there might be a better way to map these – as there are not very many vacant keys left in PSCS.

Please let me know if you spot any typos, incorrect key assignments, or shortcuts that I have missed. Once I am convinced the chart has been sufficiently ‘beta tested’, I will make it and my preferences available via my Web site ( http://user.fundy.net/morris/ ). I will also be releasing an update to my Extended Keyboard Shortcuts Action Set (
http://user.fundy.net/morris/redirect.html?photoshop2.shtml ), as there are many of these that are not possible to assign via a simple keyboard shortcut (e.g., Close without saving, Contract selections that touch canvas boundaries, Show / Hide Layer, etc.) – although I should investigate the possibility of scripting these…

Mastferfully delivered, as usual. Thanks!

One thing – have you noticed that the shortcut editor doesn’t allow the use of items in the Import menu that the user has installed, such as Twain scanners? Or am I just crazy?

Trevor:

Kudos to you. This and the previous shortcut versions are some of the most useful things that I’ve gotten from this forum.

You’re right. Strange – esp. given that you can assign shortcuts to scripts and everything, but not Twain. Hmmm…?

Indeed. I wonder if Mssrs. Pawliger and Cox are listening in?

Shortcuts for specific Twains? Could the reason be that twains come from the system, rather than PS’s libraries?

Possibly. However, it’s certainly not impossible to implement such a thing – Extensis did, for example. The Twain driver still has to communicate with PS.

And you can certainly add shortcuts for third-party plugins.

While we support assinging shortcuts to all fixed menu items in the app, including palette menus, we were not able to get shortcut assignments for all dynamically created menus. We were able to get them for the most popular such menus – Filters, for example – but were not able to do so for some others, such as the TWAIN device list.

<sigh> D’ommage. I hope this changes in the future.

Not that Actions won’t do much the same thing, so I’m not bitching too much here.

Thanks, once more for fine work!

I was not able to save the .pdf once downloaded. For some reason, version 6 of Acrobat reader, at least when invoked from IE6, won’t permit a save, and there’s no "save target as…" option in my newsreader. It simply opens IE and loads the PDF. I was able to work around this by creating a tiny html document with the pdf as the target of a link in the doc. THEN, I could open the page and right-click to save the pdf.
