Ok, I have so far come up with this little test picture:

http://shezza.sdf-eu.org/test.png

However, it’s not truly transparent despite the chequered background and comes up a nasty blue hue when put on a page with anything.

I’m using Photoshop CS.. what do I need to change on this picture to make it completely transparent!!?

How are you determining that?

If you are putting it into a web page … HTML … and then viewing it with Micro$loth’s Internet Destroyer, that program has several known "issues" with PNG files. (Probably because the PNG standard was "not invented here.") You might try using some other program to test the PNG file.

Good observation!

I just tried resaving the PNG file as a GIF.. low-and-behold it works fine..

Presuming that Adobe is doing it’s job, it’s looking like Internet Explorer has let me down! 🙁

Thank you for your input!

That’s correct. It is explorer. Firefox honors transparent PNGs. Funny, but even Microsoft software such as PowerPoint will produce transparent PNGs that PowerPoint cannot display properly. Well, okay, not funny – pathetic!
