Cool As Blu,
At this point in time, your best bet is to become familiar with the keyboard shortcuts of PSCS if you do not want to use the menus for accessing such commands. The only other alternative is to purchase Extensis PhotoTools which is rather pricey at $150 given that most of its features are pretty-well replaced by Photoshop’s enhancements. However, one of the features in PhotoTools that Extensis ultimately removed when they felt it no longer cost-productive to maintain, was a component called PhotoBars that provides a customizable toolbar interface for Photoshop.
For Windows only, I took it upon myself to update the Photobars and re-introduce them via a supplement that I provide for a small fee. I think PhotoBars is a great feature to have and it is a blessing to those with limited mobility in their hands, from what I’ve heard, but I find it hard to justify at the price still charged for the full PhotoTools package. Unfortunately, there are some key files that support the entire package which are also required by PhotoBars, so you can’t have PhotoBars without PhotoTools.
The last I heard from a user of my PhotoBars supplement, he had contacted Extensis about PhotoTools and was sent a reply that they had discontinued PhotoTools and would not be supporting it for PSCS. If they’ve truly discontinued it, I’m not sure why it is still shown on their website as one of their Creative Tools products. But, one thing is for certain…they should drop the price to that of an upgrade, or $50.
I’ve recently completed the remapping of Photobars for PSCS compatibility and to include buttons for the new feastures. From what I’ve seen, there may be a minor problem with PhotoTools in PSCS, but not one that many users can’t tolerate. And, of those who’ve paid the $8 fee for my remapping service in providing PhotoBars CS, none yet have reported any problem. Obviously I’m happy to hear that.
If you’d like to see what my PhotoBars supplement looks like for PS6 through PSCS, you can chech them out on my website at
http://jazzdiver.com/photoshop/photobars.htm. If you can find a legal, unopened copy of Extensis PhotoTools 3.0 anywhere such as a software clearance store, you might consider getting it if you can do so for a cheap price. Then, once you register it and obtain the free update to version 3.0.6, you’d be able to use the PhotoBars CS supplment to obtain toobar functionality.
Regards,
Daryl

I have used PSP for years but have just bought PSCS as well. How can I customise the toolbar in PS like I can in PSP?
