Is there a way to modify PNG or GIF files (created in Macromedia’s Fireworks MX) in Photoshop 7? I have looked through help, tried a variety of things, and searched the online knowledge base but can not find any topic that addresses modifying files created in another software product. The reason I ask is because I have a client that would like to change some GIF files (containing flowcharts)using Photoshop 7. Changes that they would want to make include altering text and inserting/deleting drawing elements. Would you know of a source where I might be able to find an answer?

Like Photoshop saves PSD images with active text layers, you probably have to go to the source files and see if it has editable text.

Otherwise save as a TIF and run OCR to convert it to text. Then start all over.

Mona,

Fireworks keeps text as editable text in PNG’s. Photoshop will NOT respect that ‘editability’. You will need to use Fireworks to retain that option.
