Where can I find *good*, large versions of Allied propaganda posters? The subject is easy find through Google Images but I’m looking for scans which are at relatively high DPI rates.
On a related note, do the respective nations maintain copyright on these things? I’ve seen the "We Can Do It" poster used commercially, so I’m lead to think they don’t. Or the design company was "stickin’ it to The Man"?

Either way, any help would be gratefully apreciated…..

Do you have a good library nearby, for example a University library? A lot of them have charters that require they be open to all citizens, and they have subscriptions to some very spendy picture databases. We have such here.

Copyright? Most propaganda commisioned by the government are not copyrighted, especially if the country lost the war. 🙂

You might try the US Government’s Library of Congress web site. I haven’t checked for these specific items, but they have a **lot** of "really neat stuff."
http://lcweb.loc.gov/homepage/lchp.html

I just used the search string
WWII poster
in the search box on that page … and WOW! Looks like just about anything you might want is actually there, and at lease "small" images are on line! Don’t know about the "large" versions, but as a worst case, you could contact one of their librarians directly.

I just went to the link, clicked on the first result, clicked on the image of the poster of that result, got a small jpeg and a link to a 4 meg tiff file.

Look like you’re home free!
