FYI

I just went to Costco here in Toronto and found Scott Kelby’s Photoshop CS Down & Dirty Tricks for only $34.99 Canadian.

Regular price is $60.99 Canadian.

It looks good. I’m going to start reading it now.

cuz 90% of the content is rehash. But, if it helps, great.

If you mean that Photoshop CS Down & Dirty Tricks is a rehash of Photoshop 7 Down & Dirty Tricks, you are mistaken. It’s a completely new book.

Oh hell, I’ve got the PS 6 version and that means I’m going to have to buy it again…

I’ve been reading it and it’s pretty good. I have his Photoshop 6 KillerTips and that was good as well.

It is one of my favorites and one of the few books that when it is updated contains mostly new information. That in itself is scary. I am used to new versions of books being 90% rehash, this just freaks me out. We might start expecting things like this.

Agreed. And his other new book, "The photoshop CS book for digital photographers" is likewise a great resource, though it skates on all color management issues completely. He is, however, honest about that up-front and refers folks to RWP and other works for that type of information.

I think a better book for photographers, which does cover colour management, is Martin Evening’s Photoshop for Photographers.. IMHO, anyway 🙂

I have his Ver. 6 book and like it quite a bit. It is, without doubt, the best illustrated of the major books. For someone who learns visually, it is wonderful. In that regard, RWP really falls down, but the in-depth text more than makes up for that fault. OTOH, Kelby’s new work would certainly be immediately helpful to a beginning Photoshopper who’s coming at it from the digi-cam point of view – a good combination of viusal clues and text, with nothing too complicated.
