I have tried using PS 7 and now PS CS on my XP PIII 700mhz with upgraded video card, memory, motherboard…basically a new rebuilt system with plenty of everything going for it…but ANYTIME I USE THE FILE BROWSER IN PHOTOSHOP IT FREEZES MY SYSTEM FORCING ME TO MANUALLY RESTART and IT HAPPENS AT OTHER TIMES WHEN OPENING LARGER FILES THROUGH FILE MENU.
Any assistance with finally once and for all getting Photoshop running flawlessly on my otherwise beautiful system would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a network drive that might be down? I’d let it sit and see if it times out.

Sounds like you have a driver or hardware conflict somewhere. Regardless, the new file browser in CS appears to be a real memory and proc hog, and it can bring much faster systems than yours to their knees. A 700mhz PIII system may be "beautiful" in your eyes, but to CS it is very underpowered.
