greetings-

work at a newspaper. i am creating eps files that need to be sized exactly to fit within templates. one particular section requires measurements of width such that they are 3.625" or 5.375" wide. how can i achieve exactness with pixel fractions?

thanks,

-alex

Pretty much you can’t. A pixel is the smallest dimension PS can deal with. You can’t have a half pixel (although you can make a pixel half transparent, but this does not apply for you).

Your solution will be to use a resolution that is a multiple of 8, since both your dimensions are expressed in eighth of an inch. For instance, instead of using 300 ppi, you could use 320 ppi, and then the fractions you mentioned will end on even pixel boundaries.

Alex,

I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking, but you can transform (Ctrl-T) objects and in the options bar you can specify exact dimensions. The options default to pixels (px) but you can put in IN, CM, MM, Points, etc for the units.

Maybe that helps?

Peace,
