Hello

I’ve just started learn Photoshop this week, I’m doing well with the tutorials and these forums but I’m stuck on something very basic.

How do you import one image to be a new layer on another image file? I want to blend two images (jpeg in this case) to be two layers in one image. I’ve gone through all the layers tutorials but I cant seem to find this simple piece of info. Thanks.

Open both images. Select the Move tool. Click on one image and drag and drop it to the other. It will be on a new layer.

Phil,

Open both images. Drag the Layer from the Layer palette of one image to the image widow of the other image.

That image will now have two layers, each ‘containing one of the images.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. It seems obvious now but then again not. I’ve spent the last half hour trying to use the cut and paste command.

Phil,

Adding the Shift key will drop the image in the center.

Using cut & paste wasn’t wrong. You’d just need to create a new layer to receive the image. Dragging’s easier.
