Hi,

i have some trouble with programming an application that write Adobe XMP metadata in jpeg/tiff files. i found out how to wirte XMP into files that have been saved by photoshop (they contain empty xmp entries) before. But what about files eg from another applications or from a digital camera.
These files contain no empty xmp entry. Does somebody know how to write a photoshop compatible jpeg file that contains XMP entries (eg the usage of the 8BIM markers in the file)? Are some specs out there?

TIA,

macro

You should write them into the same place Photoshop writes them. You will have to parse the JPEG file and add a new tag for the XMP data.

Adobe just posted XMP Custom File Info Panels on their website at http://partners.adobe.com/asn/tech/xmp/custompanels.jsp
You place XMP descriptor files on your computer that XMP aware adobe apps can use to add meta data.
cheers,
Mark
