Hello,

I am trying to place a PDF file photo into a newly created PSD file. For some reason, the photo turns black & white when it’s inserted into the Photoshop file. Why is this? I want color. How can I prevent this from happening? Thanks!

This is just a guess, but could the PDF be created in CMYK mode, and your page in RGB. Try changing the image mode to CMYK on your image, importing, and then converting back to RGB.

What colour mode is you Ps document?

What about the PDF?

What happens when you try to rasterize the PDF and then copy/paste it into the PS document?

Don/Rene,

I checked. The PSD file is grayscale. The PDF is RGB. I guess that is what is causing the problem. In the past I have always started out with a photo and built text or graphics around it, from that point. So it was probably always defaulting to RGB. This is the first time I am doing things the other way around. I was also trying to add blue text and could not figure out for the life of me why the text kept defaulting back to gray. I must have made 10 attempts!!! HA! Thanks for your help.

This is another argument for InDesign as a container. You can place any old thing, at any resolution or color model, then scoot it around and embellish it non-destructively.

then scoot it around and embellish it non-destructively.

Yeah but, that’s not as much fun.
