Does anyone know how photographer Howard Schatz acheives the color hue effects on many of his portrait photographs? I’ve looked at some recently that have either a overall red or blue hue to the image, though you can still see the true colors (of eyes, lips and skin) coming through. I’m guessing that most of the effect comes from the Hue/Saturation control, but I can’t seem to get it right. Any specific suggestions?

Thanks,

Looking at some of his works, it appears that a separate layer set to colour is being used. < http://www.gallerym.com/pixs/photogs/sh/selections/pages/bod yknots_186.htm>

If the original is changed to greyscale (lots of ways of doing this: calculations, channel mix, desaturate, best channel, etc.) and then one adds a new layer, changes its mode from "normal" to "color" and then paints with colour on the new layer, it will look like the pics.
