When I create a new action and assign it a function key, can anyone tell me where that information is stored? If possible, I would like to back up all my own actions so that I wouldn’t have to re-create them again after a re-install. Is this possible?

(I’ve tried creating a new action and then searching my PC for files that have been altered in the last 24 hours, but the results have not shown anything helpful).

Thanks.

Martin

On my Mac, actions are strored in Applications>PhotoshopCS>Presets>Actions. The files have an .atn extension. PC should be close to same.

Note: You can also make a droplet which is a separate file which stores the action. You can drop images onto the droplet and the action is made on it.

Actions are "stored" in the Actions Palette Preference files unless you save them from the Actions palette flyout, in which case you can save them anywhere. The Presets folder is a good place and then back it up somewhere else.

Thanks, but where are the Actions Palette Preference files stored? (The folder Prests/Photoshop actions just has default files). I’ve looked in every folder I can find on my PC marked Adobe, but to no avail.

The information on the actions I have created must be somewhere! I’m puzzled. Sorry if I am being dense …

I think I found the relevant files – in the Documents & Settings/Application Data/Adobe folder. Correct me if I am wrong…. Martin

Yes, but I think you are better off Saving the actions by using the Actions palette flyout menu>Save Actions. Make sure the action(s) are in a set or you can’t save them.

I’ve never noticed this option before – I’ll have a look. Thanks again.
