After installing Photshop (6.0) I’m not able to unlock a layer. In any picture/photo a lock appears in de right. The option to unlock a layer is grey, so I couldn’t do anything with it. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Ah-HAH!

I remembered hunting down that site years ago when I first ran across your name here on the forums and looking around. I never said anything, and ever since then I just assumed it was you.

GREAT! Now you can join me in poking fun at his banner’s clipped drop shadow & horrible font choice, and the poor file-weight optimization!

😉 XD.

( THAT J.T. has some nice photos on his site, though, I’ll admit).

Oh, and John…

When you said in your reply #10 that MY reply #7 confused you, the initial part of MY reply was SUPPOSED to refer you to the link I posted in #6: <http://metamark.net>

I got my post numbers mixed up.

(My point was this: Since HTML is currently disabled in these forums, and we can’t manually format short text links, many of us have been using the URL-shortening service provided by Metamark as a way to avoid the long, table-busting raw URLs like the ones you pasted in above).

You do realize a *Background* is not a layer? Background not a layer is purely semantics.

Before you can "unlock" it You first have either use the mask tool to cut and then paste it back or duplicate it.

Not on any version I have ever used you don’t.
Alt+double clicking will rename the Background to layer 0 without any masking or pasting.
Also, the OP and many others cannot see your post, they are posting in the Adobeforum, not this NG.
For some reason this NG periodically gets *leakage* from the forum. A total PITA!
