I have a Seiko Label Pro where I can put a graphic on my labels. I’d like to use a photograph – but it must be in Black & White – 200 dpi according to Seiko. The size of the finished photo on the label would be approximately
0.6" x 0.6". I converted a color photograph to B&W (don’t know if I used
the proper technique). The printer came with a sample label which has a photo on it. The photo looks like a photo you would see in the Wall Street Journal – sort of all dots. This is fine but I can’t seem to get that result. Sure could use some help here with various techniques that I could try. Wish I could put a copy of the sample label in a posting – but I can’t. If you need to see a copy to see what I’m trying to accomplish, I’ll need an email address. Thanks…………

Your discription sounds like a half tone problem but I doubt that’s it. This is a shot in the dark because I know nothing about a Seiko Label Pro, but my best advice based on the info you’ve supplied is to try some different bitmap formats. Even Microsoft Paint will output several bit-depths and I’d recommend starting there but if that doesn’t work out try to give us some more information to go on… ~Doc

In PS the direct method is Image / Mode / Greyscale (or bitmap as I just posted)

The Smart Label software that comes with the Seiko label printers will do this for you. It does the converting and "dithering" (your description of "all dots") in this software when you place the image from file onto the label layout.
You need the latest version (V4.61). If you don’t have it, it’s a free download from:
