Is there an equivalent to the Paintshop Pro 7 Colour Replacer in PhotoShop 7? I’ve found Colour Replacer very useful in the past. I’ve tried the PS7 Background Eraser and Magic Eraser tools but they don’t seem to do what I want. Peter Resch

I don’t know about PSP7 but with Photoshop you can use these methods

Image/adjust/replace colour – you get a replace colour dialogue box with a monochrome view of your image – as you click on the part of the image you want to change the monochrome picture changes to indicate which parts are selected – to add more colours to the selection hold down ‘shift’ as you click (or alt to subtract). when you have selected all you need, change the colour by adjusting the three sliders in the box.
or
Select/colour range – as before you add (and subtract) colours by using the shift or alt key but this time you end up with a selection whereby you can change the colour
There are numerous other selection methods.

Thanks I’ll try those ideas.
The Colour Replacer in Paintshop pro (PSP7) is very simple to use. PSP7’s colour patches consist of a foreground colour and a background colour, e.g. if you are painting, holding the left mouse button paints the foreground colour, the right button paints the background colour.
When using the Colour Replacer like a brush it replaces the foreground colour with the background colour.

If that’s all you want, then you can just press the X key while painting in CS to do the same thing.

I guess I didn’t explain it very well.
The PSP7 Colour Replacer replaces only colour that is the same as the foreground colour patch with the colour of the background colour patch. It doesn’t replace any other colours.
