This message may have gone out before but I can’t find the post so here goes.

I have RAW files saved in a folder. When I want to view them I use the browser. When I double click on the image in the browser I get to a screen that is too large. The buttons – Close, Maximize and Minimize are cutoff as well as all everything down along the right side of the screen. The only way I have been able to close the screen without restarting my computer is by clicking on a box near the top right of the screen. No idea what that box is because the text is cut off. I have tried dragging with the double arrow on the edge and top right corner but it won’t go smaller. I have no idea what is at the bottom of the screen because I can’t get to it.

Help!!!!

your buttons are cut off because your screen res is probably 800×600. PSCS requires 1024×768 or better due to the size of some of the dialog boxes.

Dave,
Does that mean that I need a new monitor? If so, what size?

Does that mean that I need a new monitor?

only if you REAAAAALY want one! 🙂

no. no new monitor needed. go to an empty area of your desktop. right click. select "proporties" from the pop up menu. select the "settings" tab. in there, change the screen resolution from 800×600 to 1024×768. hit apply. hit ok. and you’re done.

Thanks Dave,

I tried that and it worked. My screen not as wide as it was and I will have to see if I can live with it like that!!!

You can try other resolutions to see what works best for you as long as they’re greater than 800×600. 1024×768 is the minimum. Glad you’re up and running again at least.

My screen not as wide as it was

You may be able to adjust the display settings on your monitor (horizontal size, for example) to compensate.

good point howard. most new monitors have a remember settings button for each resolution and refresh rate. you may also need to rerun adobe gamma from the control panel to ensure color integrety.

Won’t adjusting the horizontal distort the images I am working on?

If you went from 800×600 to 1024×768 the aspect ratio should have stayed the same – 4/3. Did you set it at 1280×1024? That’s an aspect ration of 5/4 and it will make a distortion in the horizontal if you try to fill a normal screen size.

Won’t adjusting the horizontal distort the images I am working on?

I tried different settings and did end up back at 1024 x 768.

Did you set it at 1280×1024?

If she was, she wouldn’t have had the original problem of the dialogs being cut off. 🙂

Eleanor…did you get a resolve for this issue? I have the same problem! The "file browser" window opens and positions the top portion right under the "tool bar". The file browser window can’t be moved up or down in order to see it’s own top of the window! I can size the window of the file browser on either side and from the bottom – but not from the top! Please help if you came up with a resolution. Thanks so much.
