Hi,
I’m a complete newbie at PhotoShop. I’m using 6.01
I created a photo that I think looks fairly good, but there’s something wrong, I just can’t put my finger on it.
It’s a .jpg and you can view it here: www.infantino.net/elvisandme.jpg Any suggestions to cleaning it up would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Saturation levels are off, you’re darker than you should be, you’re also blurrier.

Not bad. Use curves to bump the contrast on your face to match the King’s, and maybe use the burn tool to take the highlight down a notch, sharpen just a little, and it should be even better.

I did a birthday card like that for the prez of my company, and stuck his head on a similar picture. You should have seen his face when he got a look at it – it was a company party and everyone in the room fell silent, and … just about got myself fired 🙂

His face is in focus, yours is not. Your face is dark, his is not.

Your wrist is blurry.

The light is not falling on your face the same as his face.

Bad hair day. The president didn’t like parties in the first place, and having his face stuck on Nixon’s body shaking hands with Elvis for all to see just caught him off guard.

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.
I made some changes. It looks a little better, but…

I’m so new at PhotoShop that I’m just trying stuff but don’t really know what it’s doing.
If it looks better, then I keep it. If not, I click ‘undo’

Here’s the latest version with changes that Mike Russell suggested: www.infantino.net/elvisandme.jpg

ps If you have critique for it, please also include ways to fix it. Just saying "it’s blurry" without informing me of how to make it unblurry doesn’t help this new-comer. Thank you.

better but your face still lacks contrast, especially in comparison to the rest of the photo

filters-unsharp mask.

play around with that.

for contrast, try Levels. (its easier than curves)
