Ctrl>Alt>Tilde…can this be done in Elements?

I am trying to follow a tutorial which uses Ctrl<Alt>Tilde to select the highlights in an image (the tilde key is above the Tab key) but this does not work in Elements.
Does anybody know of alternative keys to to this?
