I have a JPEG image that was saved as a blurred file and sent to me. I want sharpen the image back to its original state. Although the file was saved blurred, can it be restored to its original state? It was a Word doc saved as a JPEG.

Thanks in advance.

It can hardly be done. In most cases you can never recover the original amout of detail.

But you may still try to sharpen it since it certainly helps. Switch to Lab color mode select the L channel and do "Unsharp Mask".

There is a freeware tool called unshake that may be useful if the USM in PS isn’t sufficient for your needs.

I suggest you test by making the image smaller so unshake doesn’t take all day to execute. If it looks promising unshake the full sized original while you’re watching the super bowl.
