I am running photoshop on XP using an epson 1280 to print.

After I print an image, i cannot print again without rebotting.

I get as far as te printing box in photoshop then it hangs, Cntrl Alt Del is needed to kill it and if I try run PS again and try to print it does the same thing, the only solution is to reboot.

Anyone seen this or have any ideas?

Robert,

Firstly, are you using the most current Epson drivers for the 1280? If not, you might see if that helps, by downloading and installing them from the Epson support site.

Does this problem arise when printing from any other application? If so, then the problem is not likely caused by Photoshop.

Is your USB cable plugged into a hub or directly into one of the ports on the motherboard? If to a hub, try one of the motherboard ports instead.

I vaguely recall problems with my 1270 back with Windows 2000 and PS6 I think, that were related to how the advanced properties of the printer were set up, as well as whether or not it was connected via a hub (hence the prior suggestion). I am using my 1270 with Windows XP without any problems, using the default installation of the driver. Checking the Advanced properties for the printer driver, I see that the enabled options are: Start Printing Immediately, Print Spooled Documents First, and Enable Advanced Printing Features. Also, in the Ports dialog, Enable Bidirectional Support is enabled. Assuming the 1280 driver to be similar, you might check to see if these options are enabled for you and, if not, change them accordingly to see if that helps any.

Good luck,

Daryl
