PS 7 with new printer problem!

I recently purchased a new HP 9650 wide-format printer. All of a sudden when I print from Photoshop (I’m on 7.0), wherever there is white, the printer will print beige!

I don’t believe this is a printer or OS problem as it only occurs when I print from PS. All other programs print ok.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

If the print driver has color management capabilities, turn it off.

I have a similar problem with the HP 9650 as well but in Illustrator and Acrobat. When I print with best quality, part of the file won’t show up or missing. Sometimes the colors are even off and broken. I have cleaned the cartridges multiple times and no luck. The printer would skip a certain section and then it will continue to print the rest. For some reason when I print with "normal" mode, everything is fine. I just bought it and the printer is already causing problems. Any advise?

It used to happen to me in Acrobat, many moons ago. It’s color management. As far as I know, you have three choices:

1. Don’t color manage Photoshop images (not recommended)
2. Turn off color management at the print driver (not sure how)
3. Calibrate your monitor with Adobe Gamma (Control Panel) and spend 15 minutes at Ian Lyons site < http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7_print/ps7_print_mac.htm>.

For me, it wasn’t until I finally delved into color management that these problems were solved. Of course at the time I thought my monitor looked cool when it was nice and dark with a blue tinge <smile>.
