Here’s what I’ve done 20000234592509 times:
I put in the Adobe CS disk. I select Illustrator and Photoshop. It says it will take 9 minutes. It starts to install. The progress bar moves slowly and then jumps. It does this for both illustrator and photoshop. It finishes in about one minute.

The only thing this does is create an "Adobe" folder in my Program Files folder, in which is an "Adobe Illustrator CS" folder which is EMPTY. No icons are added to the start menu.

When I go back into the installer it claims that they’re installed and asks me if I want to reinstall. I’ve tried reinstalling. I’ve tried using the installer to uninstall. What else is there? I even changed CD-Rom drives in case the drives were broken. Another guy in the office installed off this CD no problem.

I have winxp with service pack 1, a gig of ram, pentium iv 1.4ghz.

WTF WTF WTF WTF

You are not alone! I have two machines, both similar config to yours – on the first I had exactly the same symptoms as you; on the second it installed perfectly. Does anyone know why?

Do you have two separate licenses? I’m guessing, but it could involve the activation in PhotoShop doing what it is supposed to do, preventing installation on two computers without proper licensing.
