Hi,
If my girlfriend does her college work on Photoshop on her home pc, can she take it into college and edit it there on their macs?

If so , how?

Thanks in advance

Yes.

If so , how?

Step 1: Put it on a disk (Jaz, Zip, USB flash memory, CD-ROM, whatever).

Step 2: Put the disk in a Mac.

Step 3: Open the file.

Yes, easily. There will be an issue with fonts because most of them are not cross platform but aside from that they should just open right up, no problem.

When going from Mac to PC you must remember to append the correct file extension (Mac users should always do this anyway IMHO).

To expand on that (I know my other post will eventuallly show up):if there is type and she plans to bring it back ot teh PC, refrain from editing it and don’t update the type when you get the warning. Just leave it be. It will be okay when she brings it back to the original platform.

If she wants the fonts converted to Mac fonts in the final file then update and she will have to specify the new font.

This assumes editable files with live type.

Another possible issue is if custom color profiles are used in a psd file, those profiles would need to be available on each computer where the image is editted, if I am not mistaken.

No, that is not correct – the profiles are embedded IN the image files. There is no need to have separate profiles on each computer.
