Photoshop Guru title

hi,
i wanted to ask some questions on the Photoshop Guru title. first of all is it an official title that adobe gives to advance users of photoshop or is it a title that anybody can give himself because he is an advance user?? secondly if it is an official title, what is the way of giving the title to sombedy. does he have to submit a personnal work or Adobe just give it to somebody because he has been using photoshop effieciently for some years and has acheived some great work using photoshop. and my last question is that there are other ‘Gurus’ for adobe software like Golive and all that. i have already heard of a vector guru but doesn’t know if it was reffering to Adobe Illustrator software.

There’s an exam you can take for "Adobe Certified Expert" or ACE status, maybe this is what you were thinking about. There’s a link to it on the Adobe site if you’re interested. You can also take an exam to be come a certified instructor.

does having a title like Photoshop Guru means that you are recognised by your profession and that you will get more work?

The ACE exam a pretty comprehensive test, checking your knowledge broadly but rather shallowly. It’s unlikely it will "get you more work" if you pass it.

No. There is however Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) for various apps. You have to take a test which costs a (I believe) couple hundred bucks to get the certification. There’s also a Trainer certification. Details on the Adobe website.

Whether it leads to more work or money, who knows? Probably not but it can’t hurt. Might go for it some day.
