When I open an image from an Olympus E-20 in the RAW (.orf) format, the RAW window is so big I cannot do anything with it. I cannot see how to make any settings. Anyone know of a workaround?

TIA

Your monitor resolution is set too small.

Philo, I am assuming you are sincere in wanting to propose solutions in this forum.

I did not say in my post that the screen is too small. I believe the post was that the window was too BIG. Not the monitor, not the "screen"…the window that opens when you open a RAW file is too big and cannot be re-sized.

I have the monitor set correctly and have been using this monitor for a couple of years now. Thanks for your interest.

Set your screen to at least 1024 by 768 pixels. The size that ACR displays does indeed depend on your monitor pixel dimension settings. Basically if your monitor pixel dimension is set too small, the ACR window will look too large. I understand that this is different behavior from many other programs, but it is what it is. Do you know how to reset your monitor pixel dimension?

twodays,

How about _trying_ what Philo suggests?

And _then_ commenting on its effectiveness?

Photoshop CS’s minimum supported monitor resolution is 1024×768, what Philo says. . .so if you’ve had your "monitor set correctly" for "a couple of years now" and you are using 800×600, your monitor is now wrong.

If you ask for help and refuse to take it, you may as well not ask in the first place. . .ya know?

Actually, I agree with the poster. If the RAW window is too big to see, then your display resolution must be way down. It fits on mine nicely, of course I run my system in 1600×1200 resolution. It has nothing to do with the monitor, but rather the resolution that your display adpater is set to display at. Sounds like you may be at 640×480 or 800×600, and those are terribly small to be working with digital images IMHO. You need at least 1024×768, even then you’re working on 1:3 or smaller images while in PS.
