a few days ago i accidently deleted msvcrt.dll (and photoshop5.5 was running fine up until that point) had the msvcrt.dll file reinstalled and now photoshop 5.5. won’t launch.

when i double click the icon it says not enough memory (RAM) to launch photoshop. i’m running win98 with 700+ mbs of ram and have 5gb’s left on a 20 gb harddrive.

.. i’ve tried deleteing the preferences psp (though a file search revealed there isn’t one.) i’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program to no avail. it just won’t launch. yet imageready starts up just fine.
can anyone give me any suggestions on how i can fix the program?

Are you 100% sure you have 700 Mb of RAM ? ’cause I wouldn’t say that’s true… especially with 20 Gb small hard drive and Win98 as OS. Please, just try to divide 700 with 16 and take a look at what you get… Take a look at your system preference and see how much RAM do you really have… Learn to give all needed system information when you ask for help, ’cause this way you didn’t tell us anything…

How did you mange to install msvcrt.dll… I mean that’s not install file, it’s just one of system files.
Best advice is to reinstall whole Photoshop all over again.
