Hi all,

I am more familiar with using Fireworks, but as a complex image with styles doesn’t look too good in Fireworks, I thought I would give Imageready a go…

I am trying to activate multiple rollovers via a particular slice… For example:
Mouseover – 1. it’s own slice but a different layer
2. Another slice in a different position
MouseDown – 1, A slice in a different position
2. A slice in a different position
3., 4. also

I managed to get the mouseovers to work after a while (I think by seecting ‘custom’ and typing ‘over’ finally did it.
But I am having problems in trying to get the 4 mousedown slices to work – I have tried using the ‘Down’ options but these release the previous state (I don’t understand why), and also by having one as a ‘down’ state and the other three as ‘Custom: Down’ but this doesn’t seem to want to work (ie only one slice changes on MouseDown).

This is an easy task in Fireworks, so obviously I am doing something wrong in IR, can anyone enlighten me ?

Thanks,
dee

Yes. Image Ready is a complete dog and should have been retired years ago. The reason it’s easier in FW is because, for web work, FW is light years ahead of IR. If you want to cripple your workflow, carry on with IR, otherwise, go back to what you know and what is best.

If. OTOH, you want to use the best 2D image programme, work in PS.

I do all my image work in PS and transfer any web work to FW. Works like a charm, and FW integrates so well with DW/Flash?etc that it makes life easy.

As I say I mainly wanted to try IR as Fireworks doesn’t show the layer effects well, but I guess I’ll export the layers as tifs, reassemble them in FW… and know not to do it this way in future ! —
