Hi,
For years I have been working in the SRGB IEC61966-2.1 color space for my photographic output.

Should I be working in Adobe 1998?

Keith,

sRGB is suitable for images destined for on-screen viewing and printing to many HP inkjets.

Adobe RGB(1998) is a larger colour space and better suited to most other output
