Is there a way to align a text block so that it is centered from the left and right edge of an image (not the text itself, but the text block.

Select the background layer then link the text layer by clicking in the layers palette next to the eye. Next click on Layers/ Align Linked/Horizontal Centers. Or chose the move tool and click the correct icon on the tool bar.

Then lock the layer.
