many thanks.
Actually, it’s been coming down in price – at least in the UK anyway.
oh… what’s the learning curve like in Painter? mountainous, or an easy gradient?
No worse than Photoshop.

I have not priced Painter IX upgrade lately, as I just got VIII a month before IX came out – always with the bad timing, and have not been around to bicker with Corel about getting a "brother-in-law" deal on the new one.
As to learning-curve of Painter v Photoshop, I agree — now, about the same. Corel has brought Painter a bit closer to PS. While I loved the older versions, I do admit that Fractal Design did some things bass-ackwards v PS. Hence, I’d do what I wanted in PS, THEN take the image into Painter for the final tweak. Nowadays (V8), I don’t have to wait so long, before Painter gets the image. I think that if you know PS (7, or 8), Painter can easily become an extension of that knowledge. However, there is SO much that Painter can do, that you may spend ages just experimenting, and experimenting.
