The Heal tool when using "Source" produces this error message.

"Alt-click to define a source point to be used to repair image"

If using "Pattern" the Heal tool works. Can’t get Alt-click to work (just does not want to sample location) in Heal or Clone.

"Could not use the clone stamp because the area to clone has not been defined (Alt-click to define a source point)"

I feel something is locking the file by default… as I have had this happen before on other systems. It’s very frustrating that’s for sure…

99 times out of 100, this prblem means you are running some computer program on your computer that changes the way the keyboard works. For example, there is a Windows program that lets you redefine alt key combinations, such as alt-enter, to do other things. It stops Photoshop ( and other applications) from "seeing" the alt key.

If you are running programs that remap the keyboard, remove them. —
