I have been searching for a place on the internet to post and sell digital art. Sort of like a repository for old projects, digital doodles, experimentation, etc., where buyers can browse the items and purchase your intellectual property if it suits their fancy or needs.

To envision a scenario, perhaps a craft company wants to put out a valentine themed stamp, then they would browse for love or heart themed graphics, and can purchase the right to use your graphic rather than paying a graphic artist to do it from scratch.

I feel something like this would benefit the buyer and seller but I have not seen much that really satisifies my needs. Is there interest in this among my peers? If so, I may consider putting a site together in PHP to see how it goes, initially just making it a "contact seller" type of deal with no charge to sign up or anything. Does anybody know of anything like this, and if not is there any interest?

There’s a small web site at www.gettyimages.com that appears to do that sort of thing, e.g.
http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/classes/FrameSet.aspx ?&UQR=ndwgkz&pk=4&source=front&lightboxView= 1&txtSearch=house&chkLicensed=on&chkRoyaltyFree= on&selImageType=6
