Elements 3 auto card-read

Elements 3 automatically reads a newly-inserted CF card
and selects all files for loading even if the program is not running If I only want to load say 2 of 50 files from the card I have to individually de-select
the other 48.
Is there a way of turning this auto-read feature off ?

load up the organiser
select from the drop down:

edit / preferences /card reader

then untick the ‘use adobe photo downloader…….’
