Are CMYK values maintained if a file is "printed" to a Acrobat PDF file using Distiller?

Why would you do that?

Just save as PDF. But yes, the values will be saved as long as you use the proper distiller settings.

Well, because it seems to me that Distiller is creating a smaller file size. I creating a multi-page PDF and am trying to minimize the overall file size, somewhat.

What’s the final destination of the file? If it’s for press, then size shouldn’t enter into it. I’m only asking because you seemed concerned about the CMYK color model.

If that’s the output, then quality would be far more a concern than file size.

Motion Picture promotional website. A collection of publicity photos for download by press organazations.

I’ll confess I’m new to this realm of things.

In that case, you want quality. A few more seconds on the download is meaningless.

But for the most part I usually see these types of photos saved as JPGs.

The "solution" I arrived at for preventing just anyone from acquiring these print quality images was to put them all into a password protected PDF. Those who desired the imagry will be instructed to contact the marketing agency for the password.

Thanks for your attention.

Good point on the security. But my advice stands. Just save as PDF.
