I find the default cached histogram of Photoshop CS bothersome. I often see nontrivial differences between the cached and "live" histograms. I tried following the online help’s directions for disabling histogram caching (selecting "uncached refresh" in the histogram palette menu and deselecting "use cache for histograms in levels" from the preferences/memory menu) but I still get an icon indicating a cached histogram after every operation. It’s, I think, a needless extra step to have to manually refresh the histogram.
Is there any other setting I need to change to make this work? Am I misunderstanding the help text?
