I’ve been a PS user for a few years. My absolute all time favorite program.
I’m looking into the new version of Dreamweaver that lets you use Fireworks for some web optimizing and other stuff.

The question-
Why have Fireworks when I have PhotoShop?

Opinions?

You can tell Dreamweaver to use Imageready or Photoshop when you hit the edit-image button. I really don’t like Fireworks.

Fireworks has better vector tools than Photoshop. It also has some effects that come in handy.
I use it for web only. Seems faster and easier to do simple things in it. Also interfaces better with Flash/DreamWeaver.

Exactly. Fireworks produces inferior graphics.

Does it? Is Fireworks’ gif, jpeg (and png) output inferior to PS/IR?

Don’t be too bummed out. One of my co-workers does perfectly well using Fireworks for web graphics, darn it – because it has become a real fight here to keep PS or adopt Elements. Go to macromedia’s web site. They list the system requirements in detail.

(I wonder if this is a bit of sting to Adobe. Macromedia’s Dreamweaver is a winner, and they include Fireworks. Is Adobe’s web package competitively priced?)
