How do I change the number of file types listed when saving in PS6? When I want to save I only get 3 file types visible in the drop menu and it’s impossible to navigate it with the mouse. I have to click the arrows on the side to find jpg.

And it’s a long list so it would be very nice to see them all at the same time.

Carl,

The format options available are dependent upon the file. For instance, if it’s a 16-bit/channel file, then only TIFF and PSD support 16-bit files. A file in LAB colour mode can only be saved as TIFF, PSD JPEG200 or a few flavours of EPS. Some formats don’t support additional alpha channels etc.

But I’m working with a photoshop file and I want to save it as a jpg. It looks like this <http://www.planet11.com/3d/ps6files.jpg> So my problem is not the format options but the number of file options listed simultaneously.

Sorry if I was unclear before.

It might even not be Photoshop related but OS related. I don’t know. I run Photoshop 6 under WinXP pro.

Thanks

You can reduce the number of file formats by removing the plug-ins from your File Formats folder which will be somewhere like:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats

There will also be a few in
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0\Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only\File Formats

Carl,

And is jpeg not showing when you scroll down the file-types box?

my issue is simply the fact that the menu only can show 3 filetypes and that the menu has a scrollingblock and arrows to navigate the remaining filetypes. I no longer use a screen resolution at 640×480. I’m qiute sure the entire list can fit within my current desktop. If only I knew how to change the this.

Carl,

Does that mean you running at 800 x 600? At a screen rez of 1152 x 864 I see 10 entries – so I would think that a higher screen rez than the one you are now using is the answer. (Photoshop CS requires a minimum of 1024 x 768 in any case)

No I run at 1900×1200 so it’s not the resolution that’s to low. Maybe it’s not even PS related but a setting within XP, I don’t know Any other ideas?
