When I start Photoshop, I get an error message stating Photoshop didn’t load because file LXASMDM.DLL wasn’t found. I hit ok and Photoshop proceeds to load.

I just uprgraded from Windows Me to Windows XP and had uninstalled my Lexmark Scanner/Printer since I knew I had to re-install it with an XP driver. I did this but still get the message.

Do I have to re-install windows and will this help if I do. Also, is there an easier way clear up this irritating distraction.

Thanks,

Jerry

you should never install xp over top of win 9x or me. it’s asking for this kind of trouble. do yourself a favor and backup, reformat and install xp clean before you get too far into using xp. you’ll be glad you did.

Jerry,

I just uprgraded from Windows Me to Windows XP <<

Does that mean you installed XP over-the-top of an existing ME installation? If so, that’s bad news I’m afraid. XP needs to be installed to it’s own new folder, preferably on a freshly formatted partition and then ALL software and drivers re-installing if you are to have an error free system

Big mistake if it was an upgrade. I know you heard that twice already, but I figured the more the merrier.

Install it clean. You’ll save time in the long run.

The stupid thing about this is that Microsoft recommend this on the Setup screen. If you have never done it before, then you think this is the way to go.

Those directions come from the marketing department, not the software engineers.
